Four too Easy for Everton...

Everton 4-0 QPR

QPR's dismal record in the FA Cup continued as Everton eased their way into the fourth round with something to spare..

Soon after the draw, it was decided by myself and the gang that this one didn't really appeal and it was one of those rare times that there was no Lofty Heights representation at all at Goodison Park.

With no streams available, it was around the radio/TV for myself and the first shock of the afternoon was the news that due to an slight injury to Rob Green, Julio Cesar would be starting in goal. Now, I understand the reasoning that it is purely marketing to help get the very highly paid, Brazilian mercenary out of our club this window, but I have to say that if you were Brian Murphy, you would be gutted not to get the nod for this one...

From a personal point of view, the moment I heard that Ross Barkley had given Everton the lead, it was more or less game over. Jelavic added to the scoring with a brace, along with a missed penalty for his hat trick and Seamus Coleman added the fourth. The TV highlights showed absolute heroics from Clint Hill clearing twice off the line to prevent the scoreline being even more emphatic.

The most disappointing part of the day, despite high profile opponents, was the several texts I have received and reports read on the social media, is that Rangers didn't put up much of a fight at all and didn't muster a single shot on target during the entire match. This is very concerning when you consider, albeit with changes, the quality we have in our team with plenty of Premier League experience. Obviously not being there I cannot comment any further.

It is rumoured that Harry Redknapp is currently trying to thrash out a deal to bring Jelavic to Loftus Road, possibly on loan and will await that one with interest. But the way Roberto Martinez was talking after the game, the deal looks unlikely, but you never know...

Back to back defeats and one win in the last five games
those are the current stats for... high flying, unstoppable, Derby County!!

Not too impressive but nor is any Championship side QPR included.

However I don't think the Rangers team are far off hitting top gear in reality despite some lacklustre performances recently.

Adding a big hard working striker like Everton's Lukaku would give a whole new dimension to the side and compliment the possession play perfectly. Needs to be someone of quality who can hit the ground running too, can't gamble in January. Plus a little striker with the knack of getting goals and taking chances like Loic Remy did last year.

Those two plus Hitchcock and Austin would get the goals required and produce the exciting wins we all want to see.
