Benvenuto De Canio...

Luigi De Canio has been confirmed as the new QPR manager with first choice Francesco Guidilon returning to Italy and caretaker manager Mick Harford leaving the club with immediate effect.

The 50-year-old, who has led Udinese, Napoli, Reggina, Genoa and more recently Siena, has signed a three-year contract at Loftus Road.

Sadly, De Canio's arrival has meant the departure of Mick Harford from the club. Harford was offered a position with the new regime but unfortunately turned it down. Mick had steadied the ship since John Gregory's departure and the results have been great, the defending fantastic and the players all seemed to like and get on with him.

So, I would like to say welcome and good luck to Luigi and also wish Mick Harford all the very best for the future. Goodbye Mick and thank you!!

Welcome Luigi and best of luck!

I was sorry to see JG go and thought it was a matter of time before he got the Rs back on track this season, but patience is always in short supply. I can understand Mick deciding to move on and hopefully some other teams noticed the quality job he did in the time he was in charge.

thanks bobo - I think its time for Mick to be a number one, which is probably why he has moved on with a good few vacancies around at the mo... as for De Canio, I cannot believe he is being slated already before a ball is kicked under is reign!! Unbelievable!!!!

MR HARFORD good luck and thank you for what you have done for my club in such a short time 8 points in 5 games, defence so much tighter, all togeather a much better side to watch - given a little time what could have been ???..but we are now owned by an italian so we have to have an italian manager?! how long before 6,7,8,of the team sheet will be non british..is this the day the club i have been a fan of for 42 years changed forever?

AS A FAN I WILL SUpPORT THE NEW MANAGER....BUT I DONT LIKE IT....
    P.K........

Thanks PK, some good points there and I must say that your concerns have also worried me. As already mentioned, we will give Mr De Canio our full support, but with someone as good as Harford in temp charge, was there a great rush to do this? I may be doing Luigi a complete disservice, but this appointment HAD to be the right one. The last thing we need is to having to completely rebuild all over again. We need to move forward and with a stable base. The main worry to me as indeed you PK, is that De Canio has only ever worked in Italy...

Also, the fans general response is amazing, he is being condemned before a ball has been kicked in his new reign?? Come on, let's give the bloke a chance at least!!

But anyways, I could continue but will go on all night, in the meantime, thanks again to Mick and let's get behind our new First Team Coach :-)
